Laser Therapy

Root Cause uses BIOFLEX® Laser System

Low-Level Laser/Light Therapy (LLLT)

Low-Level Laser therapy (LLLT) which is also know commonly as Light Therapy, Cold Laser Therapy or Photobiomodulation Therapy (PBMT), can be used to treat various musculoskeletal conditions.  LLLT utilizes red and near-infrared wavelengths, stimulating cellular energy and regeneration. The light waves activate photoreceptors within the cells of the tissue restoring the body’s ability to heal and accelerating the natural healing process.

Our BIOFLEX® Laser System utilizes Red and Near-Infrared light at the optimal, medically proven wavelengths of 660 nm and 840nm, respectively, and can be used for ALL soft tissue injuries!  It provides deep saturation of the tissue, providing superior responses to other forms of LLLT laser therapy systems!

Just to name a few, LLLT can also be used for all sports injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome, rotator cuff injuries, tennis/golfers’ elbow, plantar fasciitis, degenerative disc disease, herniated discs, sciatica, all back pain, knee injuries and many more conditions! There is a pain free treatment with no known side effects of LLLT, and it is also covered by most health care plans!

The most common conditions treated include but are not limited to:

  • Musculoskeletal Injuries

  • Muscle and ligament strains

  • Tendinopathies

  • Cartilage, muscle, ligament, or tendon partial tears

  • Bursitis

  • Epicondylitis

  • Plantar fasciitis

  • Arthritis

  • Nerve Healing

  • Wound Healing

  • BIOFLEX has proven to accelerate surgical wound healing, dermal ulcers including diabetic lesions and those secondary to compression, and all other recalcitrant wounds.

Overall benefits of LLLT include:

  • Decrease in Inflammation

  • Promotion of Wound Healing

  • Beneficial Immunomodulation

  • Increased Angiogenesis & Neovascularization (Blood Flow)

  • Increased Collagen Production

  • Increased Muscle Regeneration

  • Decreased Muscle Atrophy

  • Increased Nerve Regeneration

  • Increased Cartilage and Bone Formation

Why We Use Bioflex Laser Therapy Systems

Differences between Class IV and Low-Level Laser Therapy

There is much confusion when Class 4 lasers are used for rehabilitation and are marketed as Photobiomodulation therapy. Class 4 lasers utilize milliwatts (mW) greater than 500 which in its definition, does not fit within Photobiomodulation range as lasers must be less than 500 mW to avoid a thermal reaction (heating of tissue) and inhibition of healing. Using higher energy and longer wavelengths leads to shallow penetration and poor absorption by the body. On the other hand, Low Level Laser Therapy utilizing milliwatts (mW) less than 500 which does not produce a thermal (heating) effect. Using lower energy for longer treatment time increases tissue saturation, leading to superior tissue healing and anti-inflammatory effects. are generated. Dr. Fred Kahn has done a systematic review
