Lab Tests (Out of House):
We offer a number of lab tests that are sent out of house. These tests are completely optional. Below, we’ve added a brief description of each test and the cost. The tests generally take about 4 weeks to return to us. At that time, Dr. Donovan or Dr. Doyle will review and interpret the results and we’ll schedule a follow-up visit with the patient.

Lab Tests Available
Allergy Tests:
IgG Food Allergy Test
$235
IgE/IgG Food Allergy Test
$250

Allergy Tests:
When a specific food allergy is present, the immune system reacts by releasing cells called antibodies to neutralize the allergy causing food, or allergen. Two commonly produced antibodies are IgG and IgE.

IgG reactions develop up to three days after the food allergen has been consumed. This makes it difficult to pinpoint problem foods by monitoring dietary intake. When IgG antibodies react with food allergens they form inflammatory complexes that can travel anywhere in the body and can affect numerous body tissues. The symptoms depend on where the inflammatory complexes deposit:
-blood vessel s may lead to headaches, high blood pressure, or inflamed blood vessels that appear as reddish purple dots on legs.

  • lungs may lead to asthma and recurring respiratory infections.
  • skin may lead to a variety of skin conditions.
  • joints may lead to joint pain

IgE reactions result in the release of inflammation causing chemical s like histamine, which are responsible for most of the symptoms that occur within hours of exposure. These symptoms may include:

  • Redness and swelling resulting from the release of histamine causing blood vessels to dilate, producing redness and swelling.
  • Airway congestion and constriction from the release of histamine.
  • Stimulation of nerve endings, which produces pain and itching on the skin surface.
Heavy Metals:
Hair Mineral Analysis
$115

Hair Mineral Analysis:
Extensive research established that scalp hair element levels are related to human systemic levels. The strength of this relationship varies for specific elements, and many researchers consider hair as the tissue of choice for toxic and several nutrient elements. Unlike blood, hair element levels are not regulated by homeostatic mechanisms. Thus, deviations in hair element levels often appear prior to overt symptoms and can thereby be a valuable preliminary tool for predicting the development of physiological abnormalities.

Endocrine Function Tests:
Female Hormone Panel
$220
Male Hormone Panel
$190
Adrenal Function Panel
$220
Thyroid Assessment
$200

Endocrine Assessments:
Saliva hormone testing is most useful for uncovering hormone imbalance. For example: discovering a woman has insufficient progesterone to balance high estradiol levels or; that high cortisol levels are interfering with the action of progesterone and testosterone. Once a hormone imbalance has been uncovered then individualized treatments can then be given to correct the imbalance. Saliva hormone assessments are used, as it reflect what amount of the hormones actually get into the tissue, rather than what might eventually get into the tissue, as with blood samples.

  • Female Panel: Measures estrodiol, progesterone, cortisol, DHEA, and testosterone
  • Male Panel: Measures estrodiol, cortisol, DHEA, and testosterone
  • Adrenal Profile: Measures cortisol at four points throughout the day
  • Thyroid Profile: Measures T3, T4, and selenium
